My Teaching philosophy
I believe that music is a vessel for life lessons. Through it, we can learn patience, discipline, persistence, and humility. I also believe that most people start their musical journey because it sounds fun, not because they’re looking for life lessons, so I do my best to cater to the fun side of music while sprinkling in life advice where I can.
students first
In my experience, passion in music comes from following the music you love. The idea of theory is that is explains patterns in music, so I do my best to start with what students like and slowly bring in those musical concepts.
PRogress > Perfection
One of the most frustrating aspects about learning a new skill is failing over and over and over again. In my lessons, we approach failure as a learning experience and proof that we are putting effort into what we do. Our goal is always to be better than the last time we attempted, never perfect in our attempts.
