My Teaching philosophy

“I believe that music is a vessel for life lessons. Through it, we can learn patience, discipline, persistence, and humility. I also believe that most people start their musical journey because it sounds fun, not because they’re looking for life lessons, so I do my best to cater to the fun side of music while sprinkling in life advice where I can.”

student guided approach

“In my experience, passion in music comes from following the music you love. The idea of theory is that is explains patterns in music, so I do my best to start with what students like and slowly bring in those musical concepts.”

Lasting impact

We build with clarity, act with integrity, and always stay curious.

ABOUT ME

I am a Colorado-native pianist, guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter, and outside of lessons, you can find me as the frontman of the budding pop duo FLORAL*. I also formerly led the pop-punk band Almost, Maine up until about 2018. Over the years, I have toured extensively across the United States, performing as far as Chicago and Los Angeles, and sharing bills with national acts including Cage The Elephant, Set It Off, 888, MisterWives, and Rivals.

In 2024, I received a Bachelor of Science in Recording Arts from the University of Colorado Denver, and during my time there, I was deeply involved in the music program, performing in the Signature Jazz Guitar Ensemble under the direction of Drew Morell. My studies emphasized Music Theory, Ear Training, Jazz Guitar Ensemble, and Performance Practice, shaping both my musicianship and voice as an artist. Prior to pursuing my recording arts degree, I studied English Education at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs and while I ultimately chose a different path, the pedagogical training I received continues to inform and enrich my teaching approach today.

Musically, I draw inspiration from quite the wide spectrum of artists. My taste ranges from classical composers such as Debussy and Chopin to experimental jazz projects like Robohands and Sungazer. I do my best to keep up with modern pop and hip-hop through artists like Sabrina Carpenter, Kendrick Lamar, Bad Bunny, and Addison Rae, while also spending a healthy amount of time in the niche corners of internet-born creators like Mindspring Memories or Ben Levin as well as the lesser known video game OST composers like Daniel Koestner, Andrew Prahlow, and Lena Raine. Currently, some of my favorite bands and artists include Chon, Polyphia, OHMA, Robohands, Domenique Dumont, h hunt, The Offline, and BADBADNOTGOOD.

Outside of music, I like video games (in particular, Outer Wilds, Balatro, Civilization VI, and The Elder Scrolls series); I am a fan of television series like Andor, Better Call Saul, and Chainsaw Man; and I love a good movie with some of my favorites ranging from Star Wars and Everything Everywhere All At Once to films by Quentin Tarantino, Ari Aster, and Robert Eggers. When I’m not locked-in to any of the above, you can find me hiking with my dad, growing my eclectic collection of hats, building Lego sets, paddleboarding, or enjoying the occasional round of golf.
